Owner Jimmy Morton is a native Nashvillian (yes, there are plenty of them around.) He started out working for a couple of small plumbing companies, but before too long, he just branched out on his own. He said, “I went in business (for myself) because I felt like I could control the quality.”

In 1986, he started Morton Plumbing, which was basically, just him. He said he did not have any regrets and surprisingly, little fear in stepping out on his own. He described the feeling as one of “release”. In the beginning, he worked totally on his own, as a one-man plumbing company.

He did not have to do much advertising, because he knew enough people, and they knew him. The phone would ring and someone would say, “I need Jimmy to come over and fix something.” Word of mouth did the rest. From the beginning, Morton Plumbing was known for the quality of its work.

Within a couple of months he had to add another plumber to help him handle all the work. Within a year, he began to add more staff. Currently, Morton Plumbing has a staff of 10, including his son and step-son. Jimmy is as particular about quality as he is about his plumbing. If the work of any of his plumbers does not meet his high standards, that plumber does not stay around.

Best Plumber & Angie’s List Honors

Morton Plumbing’s reputation is so high that the company was awarded 1st place honors in the Nashville Scene’s “Best Plumbing Company” category for the past four years (2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015). Similarly he has won The Tennessean’s Toast of Music City award in the Best Plumber category for the past four years (2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015) and Best Heating & Cooling for the past two years (2014 – silver medal; and 2015 – 1st place). Clearly Morton Plumbing, Heating & Cooling has won the respect of the local community.

But the award that makes Jimmy the proudest is the Angie’s List “Super Service Award for Plumbers”, which is awarded to the top 5% companies in the nation, based on customer feedback. His insistence on quality and customer service has truly paid off.

Best Plumbing Advice to Home Owners

When asked what is the best piece of advice to give a home owner about their plumbing, he said, “Don’t put off doing something. Call a plumber as soon as you notice a slow drain or low water pressure. Putting things off only makes it worse.”

Morton Plumbing predominantly services existing plumbing and HVAC systems, but also does a fair amount of new construction, both plumbing and HVAC systems.
